When we visit our friends from the streets, we do sometimes very practical things to somehow help to improve their lives and hope to become a channel of God's Love for them.
We know for example a whole family that lives at the side of a busy road in something that couldn't even be called a shack. It had no roof and no flooring, it were just some old poles with cloth on it and an old, stinky sofa with who knows what crawls and lives inside...yacky...
Some of our guys grabbed a few tools and started to "fix" the "home" with some more wood and other material for a "proper" roof. That was three weeks ago.
The other day I went to the same spot to meet some street girls. "We need to tell you something!" they shouted already from afar. "The house is torn down. Micky and his friend came in the night, when Mark wasn't around and stole the roof. They sold the Iron and the wood to the junk shop." Wow, I was speechless and I couldn't believe what my ears just heard. "Hey,....I thought they were friends,...how can they be so cruel and mean?" The girls just shook their heads. That's how it is....in the streets. You have to watch your back. Always!
